Sarah’s Bumps & Bands Class is a specialised strength and flexibility class for pregnant womenusing resistance bands. This class is suitable for women who would like to continue their strength exercises during their pregnancy in a safe, supported and structured class or for women would like to start some strength exercises to help with the changing physical demands of pregnancy.

Pregnancy is an exciting time bringing lots of physical and emotional changes. Studies show that keeping strong and exercising during your pregnancy helps you to have a more positive pregnancy experience and helps you to recover better postnatally. By doing this class, know that you are doing something very beneficial for yourself and your baby.

Classes are kept small and each woman fills out a prescreening form so Sarah can cater for your individual needs.

New to resistance bands?
Resistance bands are easy to use, versatile and effective. No matter what your fitness level, resistance bands are a great piece of equipment to use.

Studies show that resistance bands provide similar strength gains to using conventional gym equipment but are safer and not as strenuous on your pregnant body as weights.

Feeling too tired to exercise?
With all that is happening to their body, many pregnant women feel that they are too tired to exercise. That is why this class is only 45 minutes long. Long enough to give you a great workout but short enough to feel that it is achievable.

Feeling unsure about exercising while pregnant?
This class is led by Sarah Thornton who is a highly-experienced Personal Trainer and teaches many fitness classes here at SoulMoves. Sarah has trained and supported pregnant women for 20 years and is a professionally qualified pre and postnatal trainer. She also is a mum to 2 girls and has designed this class with her own pregnancy experiences in mind. Know that you are in safe hands with Sarah.

Feel strong, confident and boost your energy for your pregnancy.

Would you like to feel active, healthy and strong during your pregnancy?
Research shows that those who keep up an exercise routine when pregnant have fewer complications during pregnancy and have better recovery afterwards. So many women stop exercising when they are pregnant which is easy to happen as the first trimester can be very draining making it easy to slip out of good fitness and wellbeing habits. Maybe you didn't have an exercise routine in the first place but really want to prepare your body for what is to come?

We at SoulMoves are very passionate about supporting our mothers-to-be on their pre- and postnatal journey and stress the importance of continuing to exercise and remain active during your pregnancy. Let us help you feel your best during your pregnancy.

Benefits of Bumps & Bands Classes:
1. Improved posture and balance
2. Increased stamina and endurance for labour
3. Reduced back pain and discomfort
4. Faster postnatal recovery
5. Enhanced mood and reduced pregnancy-related stress
6. Improved sleep
7. Increased energy levels
8. Support and connection with other pregnancy women in the class

This Bumps & Bands Class includes:
1. Gentle strength exercises to prepare your body for each trimester, labour and after the birth of your baby using light weights, bodyweight and resistance bands
2. Information on how to monitor your own intensity during exercise; what exercises you can and cannot do during pregnancy; the signs and symptoms of over-exercising during pregnancy
3. Advice on how to keep up your exercise throughout your pregnancy considering important factors such as what exercise you did before you got pregnant, any contraindications you may be experiencing during this pregnancy and during previous pregnancies, your energy levels and what you would like to do to keep fit
4. Mobility and flexibility exercises to help you to adapt to and support your developing body
5. Nutritional information to help you feed you and your baby well and to encourage a normal weight gain during your pregnancy. I also like to give out healthy recipes to help with the increased need for sweet treats!

This class is suitable for pregnant women who have had their 12 week check-up and are cleared to exercise by their doctor.
